1932-D Washington Silver Quarter G/VG

The Washington Quarter we are all familiar with was designed by John Flanagan and authorized by congress on March 4, 1931. The design was intended to be a 1-year commemorative celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the birth of George Washington in 1732. Instead, it’s become one of the longest serving designs in history. The obverse portrait was taken from the bust of Washington done by Jean Antoine Houdon in 1785. The first year, 1932, produced both of the Key Dates for this series.

On August 1, 1932, the new Washington design quarters were released into circulation. It was the first quarter minted since 1930 due to low Depression era demand.

Mintage: 408,000
