1960 Small Date Silver Proof Set
These sets were among the first made for the 1960 season. It is known that 'Large Date' proof sets began appearing during the first week of February, 1960. That said, experts believe that the Small date mintage ended in mid-late January, 1960. Walter Breen estimates that no more than 200,000 sets and possibly fewer than 100,000 'Small Date' sets were made.
Despite an 8 times increase in the price of Silver, this set still sells for about its 1974 price. It is much tougher than the current price indicates. Plus, it includes a silver half, quarter, and dime.
