Breast Cancer Awareness

The U.S. Mint recognizes the many Americans impacted by Breast Cancer, and the efforts to prevent it through research. Offered will be a $1 Silver, a $5 Rose Gold, and a 50¢ Clad, all in both proof and BU.

The Design: The design was chosen through a juried competition. Winning the competition was Emily Damstra, a member of the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program. Obverse: The obverse depicts two women, one older and relieved, and one younger and posed to fight. A butterfly hovers above them. Reverse: The reverse depicts a tiger swallowtail butterfly in flight, which is a symbol of hope. The design will be the same for each of the three coins offered, a $1 Silver dollar, a $5 in Rose Gold, and a clad Half Dollar. Each coin will be offered in BU or proof.

The Rose Gold $5 coin is the star of this show. It’s the first time the Mint has ever offered a coin using this metal. It’s an alloy, using 85% gold, 14.8% copper, and .2% zinc. We expect it to be enormously popular, drawing the attention of collectors, those impacted by Breast Cancer, as well as those simply drawn in by the beauty of the coin. The problem, as we see it, is that the Mint has only authorized a release of 50,000 of these coins - COMBINED. That’s proof and BU. We expect the demand to far outweigh production for this coin. Better get yours locked in today!

  • For each Silver Dollar sold, $10 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
  • For each $5 coin sold, $35 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
  • For each Clad Half sold, $5 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
