2017-W Silver Eagle OGP
On June 29, the U.S. Mint released the 10th issue in it’s wildly popular ‘Burnished’ Silver Eagle program. The series began in 2006. Coins were issued through the 2008 season, but then they were suspended for the 2009 and 2010 seasons during the Great Recession. Production resumed in 2011 and continues to 2017.
Each coin is made on specially prepared ‘Burnished’ .999 silver blanks. They’re not quite ‘Proofs’ as they don’t have the mirror finish, but they are of exceptional quality. Each coin carries the ‘W’ Mintmark for the West Point Mint.
